            Judge Timothy P. Cannon was born June 9, 1955 in Painesville, Ohio . He attended elementary school in Painesville , and attended Painesville Harvey High School as a freshman in 1969-70. He was president of his freshman class. After a family move to Painesville Township in 1970, Tim graduated from Cleveland St. Joseph High School in 1973.

            Judge Cannon graduated from John Carroll University in 1977 with a bachelor of arts degree. He also earned first team all conference honors in basketball. From John Carroll, he went on to earn a law degree from Cleveland State University , John Marshall College of Law in 1980.

 

            Judge Cannon started his legal career as an attorney with Cannon, Stern, and Aveni in 1980. He continued with the firm for nearly 27 years. Over the years, his practice consisted of representing a wide variety of clients in a variety of fields. He litigated cases as a city prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, civil defense, and on behalf of civil plaintiffs.

 

            He has worked as a public official in many capacities, including the following:

Painesville Township Trustee 1995-1997

            In his professional career, Judge Cannon has been admitted to practice before a variety of jurisdictions and has been involved in bar association acitivities, including the following:

            In the spring of 2007, Governor Strickland requested applications from all interested and qualified individuals for a vacancy on the 11th District Court of Appeals. This included every county in the district; Lake , Geauga, Ashtabula , Portage , and

Trumbull counties. Governor Strickland, fulfilling a campaign promise to seek out the most qualified candidates for the position, appointed a blue ribbon committee of eleven individuals to conduct interviews. After a thorough and exhaustive examination and interview process, Governor Strickland determined Judge Cannon to be the most qualified.

           

Judge Cannon was sworn in to commence his duties on August 15, 2007.
